Chaffee Rotary Band Heat Sealer
How It Works

The bag or material is fed into the throat of the machine. The bands, which are
traveling on rotating pulleys, carry the bag or material past spring loaded heating or
cooling blocks. The blocks apply pressure and heat, and then cool the material. Often, the
blocks will be heat only. The bag or material, now permanently sealed, emerges on the
other end of the machine. The principle of operation is that two opposed, counter-rotating
steel bands grip the work between them and carry it past electrically heated brass blocks,
which transmit heat and pressure through the bands and accomplish a thermal seal. The seal
is then cooled and set with cooling blocks. |
